In my years leading sales teams, I’ve seen first hand that the best salespeople don’t just hit their targets, they consistently outperform them. They aren’t just talented; they have a mindset and discipline that set them apart.

A recent article from Sales Gravy outlined five key traits of top performers, and I couldn’t agree more:

  • They show up early. Success isn’t about luck, it’s about preparation. Top reps don’t just roll into their day; they own it before it even starts.
  • They put in the effort. When others stop after one or two attempts, the best push forward. They know that persistence, not just skill, drives results.
  • They work on their craft. Whether it's refining their pitch, learning new negotiation techniques, or understanding their customers better, top performers invest in themselves every single day.
  • They bring energy. Enthusiasm is contagious. The best salespeople inspire confidence in their clients and their teams because they believe in what they’re selling.
  • They execute relentlessly. Ideas are great, but execution is everything. Top sales pros don’t just talk strategy, they put it into action.

I’ve seen these traits in action, and they separate the good from the great.

So here’s my question to you: Which of these traits do you see in yourself or your team? And which one do you want to improve on? Let’s discuss in the comments. 👇
