Most of us have completed a SWOT analysis for a business.
Take 20 minutes and ask yourself four simple questions.
Strengths
- What do I consistently do better than others? What do clients and colleagues value most about working with me?
Weaknesses
- Where do I struggle? What feedback have I heard more than once? What skills am I avoiding because they're uncomfortable?
Opportunities
- What market trends, relationships, technologies, or learning opportunities could accelerate my growth over the next 12 months?
Threats
- What could stop me succeeding? A changing market? AI? Competitors? Complacency? Burnout? A shrinking network?
The magic isn't in completing the boxes. It's in being brutally honest with yourself.
I've found that the most successful sales leaders aren't the ones with the fewest weaknesses, they're the ones who know exactly what they are and have a plan to address them.
Your SWOT shouldn't sit in a drawer. It should become your development plan.
So here's my challenge for this week:
- Grab a blank piece of paper, draw four boxes, and complete your own personal SWOT.
You might be surprised by what you discover.
When was the last time you stopped working in your career and spent time working on it?
