This month I have been focusing on Discipline, not only in my LinkedIn posts but personally and professionally too. For example, I have had a hectic travel schedule since mid-October and without discipline I would not have achieved my work life balance and commitments to delivering outcomes and outputs on time.

This week I find myself recovering from these past 6 weeks by being disciplined with myself, my family, and my work life by adequately balancing the needs and wants of myself, my family and my clients.

Believe it or not, the 3 areas that I am sharing today ring true in my everyday life. If you too consider these 3 areas I believe you will also agree.

𝗔. 𝗪𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗨𝗽 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆

People want to know the secret of getting up early.

It is simple:

Set your alarm clock and get out of bed when it goes off.

𝗕. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗖𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹

People are not who you want them to be.

Even those put on pedestals have faults, weaknesses and failures.

Kill the idea of heroes.

The only person you can control is you.

Make yourself the person you want to be.

𝗖. 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀

The first step is to gain perspective.

Detach and consider how it could be worse.

Then refocus on what you can control.

Don’t stress about what you can’t control.

If you can control the source or stress and you’re not, that’s a lack of discipline and ownership.
